Agribusiness in a Global Environment Lesson 5
Lesson 5 Activity - Advertising Sketch

At this point, you know a lot about a specific country. You have been in contact with a friend there and have met with several businessmen who might be interested in working with you to export a product. You have a product in mind, and you know what shape, size and form that product will be to be most appealing to natives of that country. Now it's time to let them know what's coming!

Your bank loan officer, Mr. U.C. Money, is about ready to let you have the loan you need to finance this exciting venture. But before he signs the final papers, he needs one more piece of "proof" - your marketing campaign plan. He wants to be sure that you have thought through every aspect of getting people to buy YOUR product. He knows that you will hire a professional advertising team, including artists, to design ads, etc. But he would like to see a sketch of the concept you will be using - whether for TV, billboards, magazines, store signs, etc.

Therefore, to get those final papers, you are going to have to use your creativity to come up with a sketch of an ad. Once you show Mr. Money, you might as well go ahead and take your sketch to the ad team. Every one knows you are not a professional artist - that's their job! But even a sketch will help them know what you have imagined.

Your teacher, again the best scheduler in the world, has managed to get you a hard-to-get appointment with the best advertising firm in the area (your class). Present to them your sketch, explaining as you go what your product will be like and why. Be sure to tell them who you have talked to, and what initial plans have been made with your buyer, so they will understand the importance of moving rapidly. And don't forget to share with them the best advertising colors and medium for that country - remember that YOU are more of an expert than they!
