The United Nations CyberSchoolBus - Resource Source. Lots of country, city information, including flags, population, languages, foods, literacy, and average temperature. This also links to UN resources.

Peace Corps - World Wise Schools. Teacher information, correspondence opportunities, Country Fact Files, Maps, links to other informative sites, and global education resources. The Country Fact Files have information on language, religion, exports for various countries, and "Links to Other Sites".

Office of the Director of Central Intelligence (ODCI) - The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) - World FactBook. GREAT source for facts about many countries, but not much about the culture.
